Tony Hesketh-Gardener Obituary

Tony Hesketh-Gardener (B2 1951-54) passed away on June 10th 2023 at the age of 86.

As a Marlborough College pupil, Tony’s alma mater played a crucial role in shaping his character and instilling in him the values that would become the cornerstone of his existence. After his time at Marlborough College where he was known for his wit, intelligence and sporting prowess, Tony’s life unfolded as a vibrant tapestry, woven with threads of compassion, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of knowledge.

He went on to finish his education at Millfield School, before joining RMA Sandhurst, serving with the Queen’s Dragoon Guards. After several years as a serving Officer, he embarked on a distinguished career in media and sales, most notably as a Board Director with Janes Publishing Group, and then as founder of his own media business, which he established in 1985.

Regarded as the quintessential English gentleman, he often spoke about his time at Marlborough, even in his eighties! It was a school he held close to his heart and always considered it an honour to have been able to attend.

In remembrance of Tony Hesketh-Gardener, let us reflect on a life well-lived – a life that began in the halls of academia, flourished through creative endeavours, and radiated the warmth of familial bonds.
