749 Lecture – Stories behind the Names

This year’s 749 Lecture will be given by former Head of History, David Du Croz (CR 1996-07).

In this centenary year of the Memorial Hall, this lecture will explore some of the stories of duty and service behind the names of the 749 from the Marlburian community who died in the First World War, and in whose memory and honour the Hall was built.

David Du Croz was educated at Winchester College and read History at Trinity College, Cambridge. On retiring from his final job as Head of History at Marlborough in 2007 he became involved in helping to co-ordinate the College’s commemoration of the centenary of the First World War, in the course of which he co-produced the film “The 749”, and co-wrote the book “Marlborough College and the Great War in 100 Stories“.
