Obituary Robin Victor Azis (CO 1973–1978)

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father Robin Victor Azis (CO 1973–1978), who died at the age of 65.

Robin was the son of Guy YM Ungku Mansur Bin Abdul Aziz aka Guy Mansor Azis (CO 1944–1948) and brother of Nicholas (CO 1979–1984).

Robin greatly cherished his years at Marlborough, where he made many lasting friendships and developed a lifelong passion for sport. He was a regular member of the Tennis First VI and remained a keen follower of the game throughout his life.

After leaving Marlborough, Robin attended the University of Tours before embarking on a distinguished career in the advertising industry. He began his career at WCRS, subsequently joining HHCL as an account manager. Through his talent, energy and determination, he rose through the ranks to become CEO of HHCL, which was recognised as the Agency of the Decade in the 1990s. Following his time at HHCL, Robin went on to establish his own businesses specialising in branded content and digital production.

Beyond his professional achievements, Robin was a committed and generous member of the Old Marlburian community. He was always willing to offer advice, encouragement and support to fellow OMs, and he took great pleasure in helping others. He was a wonderful father and could frequently be found proudly supporting us from the touchlines at football, rugby and cricket matches.

Robin was particularly proud of our Malaysian heritage and maintained a deep interest in our family’s history. He wrote an insightful article on the Azis family dynasty, exploring its historical connection with Johor — a particularly meaningful link given that Johor is now home to Marlborough College Malaysia.

Oliver (LI 2001–2006) and Alexander (CO 2004–2009) Azis.
