Congratulations to Tunku Zain Al-’Abidin (BH 1995-2000) on his appointment as Tunku Panglima Besar of Negeri Sembilan, one of the most senior hereditary royal positions in the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan.
Proclaimed by his father, Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, the appointment sees Tunku Zain take on an important role within the state’s unique royal institution. Similar to a senior hereditary office associated with the British monarchy, the position helps uphold royal traditions while serving the interests of Negeri Sembilan and its people.
Tunku Zain has worked with the UK Parliament, the World Bank, and the United Nations and is widely respected for his commitment to education, public service, and institutional development in Malaysia.
This appointment recognises both his place within the Negeri Sembilan royal family and his longstanding contribution to public life. We wish him every success in this distinguished role.
