OM golfers reunited to play in the annual Yaxley Cup in memory of Hugo Yaxley (SU 2014-17), who tragically died in 2020.

More than a dozen golfers returned to home territory to enjoy 18 holes in memory of their friend who was a member of the golf team during his time at the College. Competitors braved torrential downpours but finished in bright sunshine as they made it back to the safety of the clubhouse in time to watch England kick-off in the Euros. 

Joe Lane, master i/c golf at the College, said: “It was brilliant to see so many OMs from this year group keen to make the annual pilgrimage back to Marlborough. The Yaxley Cup has become a fine tradition and one which Hugo would be proud of I am sure.”

Will Cook (SU 2014-19) romped home to victory with 39 stableford points, playing some sensational golf. He was pushed all the way by Harry Brooks (TU 2014-19) (36 points) and brother Milo Brooks (B1 2013-18) (35 points). Luke Clarke (BH 2014-19) won the wooden spoon and Gabe Coleman (SU 2014-19) was given the target of competing next year rather than walking the course!

This was the fourth instalment of the competition and a wonderful tradition to continue.
