The OSCAR Foundation

This year’s Together publication, focusing on the positive impact of the College and Old Marlburians, looked at the work of the OSCAR Foundation. Marlborough College and the OSCAR Foundation have a long-standing relationship, which includes the College hosting children from OSCAR, most recently in October 2023.

The OSCAR Foundation, based in Mumbai, aims to educate and provide life skills sessions to underprivileged children by incentivising them to attend through football training. Since they started in 2010, they have had over 15,000 people pass through the academy.

This year, Ted Cussans (C3 2018-23) and Jasper Norman (C3 2018-23) volunteered with the charity and set off to Mumbai in January 2024. To raise funds for the Foundation, Ted and Jasper undertook a sponsored 10k run, adding the challenge of passing a football between them the entire distance while running. They managed to raise an impressive £4100 which they were able to see the rewards of while in India.

Their time in India allowed them to interact with as many football sessions as possible, help out with English lessons, and get to take in and explore the other aspects of Mumbai.

You can find out about more of the wonderful work and impact of the OSCAR Foundation on their website.
