Anoushka Freeman’s triumph in the Devizes to Westminster Race

A huge congratulations to Anoushka Freeman (IH 2012-17) who won the Devizes to Westminster race this weekend.
Anoushka took up kayaking, and specifically the Devizes to Westminster, in her time at Marlborough and completed the junior race in 2016 with Maddie Kirkwood (EL 2012-17). After leaving Marlborough she continued to train and compete, and raced at multiple World and European Championships before returning to compete in the DW last year.
Anoushka paired up with Tom Sharpe who last year broke the 44-year record for the fastest senior double Devizes to Westminster finish with his partner, Keith Moule. While this year’s race was cut short, finishing at Teddington due to challenging conditions, Anoushka and Tom worked together seamlessly to be the first across the line in Teddington with a time of 13:43:46. Their time at Teddington was 70 minutes up on the previous mixed crew record so we expect to see Anoushka and Tom having another go at reaching Westminster and achieving that record in years to come!
Anoushka becomes one of just three women to ever win this iconic race.
