Christmas at Battersea Power Station in memory of Thomas Waley-Cohen

Last December, in memory of Thomas Waley-Cohen (C3 1998-2003), Battersea Power Station hosted the party of the year with over several hundred guests enjoying a private evening of ice skating next to the Thames.

The event was a special occasion to mark what would have been Thomas’ 40th birthday who sadly passed away in 2004, just a few weeks after he turned 20, following a lengthy battle with bone cancer.

At the time there was a large fundraising appeal to build the Oxford Children’s Hospital. The Waley-Cohen family and friends raised over £1 million and Tom’s Ward, named in his memory, continues to provide care and support to thousands of sick children every year.

From ticket sales, donations and advertising, over £330,000 was raised. Donations were divided equally between Place2Be and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Oxford Children’s Hospital and will help to transform the lives of children across the UK.
