Anthony Julian Gray Obituary

Anthony (B2 1954-58) enjoyed physics, applied maths, discovered a love of fencing at Marlborough and studied mechanical sciences at Cambridge where he also furthered his fencing skills.

He met his soon-to-be wife, Gwenda, at Aston University while studying a masters in Manufacturing Engineering which led to a career as a management consultant, focusing on manufacturing. The job took him around the world, usually involving early Monday morning runs to the airport – an activity not very popular with his wife.

His friends will remember the passions, perhaps obsessions that he and his wife had for renovating derelict buildings… and just as a project was finished they were on the hunt for the next one.

After Gwenda died in 2018, having just completed their last building project together in South Wales, he moved to Oxfordshire to be nearer to his son.

Until his final few weeks he did brain teasers and Sudoku puzzles everyday. He died peacefully on 28 December 2023.
