Will on the Waves
Will Ackerley (TU 2015-2020) is taking part in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race as a circumnavigator which began on 3rd September this year. Having sailed since he was 10, this has been a long passion of his, but never taking anything on to this scale.
The challenge is a 40,000NM race around the world, comprising of 8 legs, between 13-16 individual races. In total, this will take 11 months to complete. Testing mental and physical perseverance, and battling through tough conditions, the race is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other.
Will is raising money for James’ Place, a charity whose mission is to stop men dying by suicide. One of the ways they hope to achieve this is by offering free, lifesaving treatment to suicidal men in their centres in Liverpool and London. You can support Will by donating here.
