
Christopher Carpmael named President of the Marlburian Club
Following the Marlburian Club’s virtual AGM on the 30th October 2023, Christopher Carpmael (C1 1980-84) was named the President of the Marlburian Club succeeding Harriett Baldwin (nee Eggleston) (LI 1975-77).
Chris is a former Royal Marines Officer who won the Sword of Honour as the most outstanding Royal Marines Officer in training, and who specialised in Mountain and Arctic warfare, and completed two operational tours of Belfast and Iraq.
Subsequently, Chris spent 21 years with Credit Suisse, predominantly in Equity Research. He ran the top-ranked Capital Goods research team concentrating on Aerospace, Engineering and Automotive companies, and then ran the US Equity Research department in New York, before returning to head the European Research business. He then managed the European Cash Equity business and finished his time as CFO of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, managing a balance sheet of close to $1tr.
Leaving there he founded C Squared, a developer and operator of Retirement Villages with care. He now runs the Altruistic fund with a focus on socially responsible investments.
Chris was Chair of the Marlburian Club between 2014 and 2020 and instrumental in the development of the Professional Groups
