Nicholas Ward-Campbell (LI 1961-65)

Nick Ward-Campbell died peacefully at the age of 75, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Andréa, his daughters Belinda and Kim, his step-children Alexandra and Andrew, and his elder brother, Iain (LI 1957-62). He was the proud Grandfather of seven grandchildren.

Born in Wimbledon, Nick started at Marlborough College in 1960 where he particularly enjoyed athletics, setting a javelin record that survived several decades. At 17, he won a scholarship to attend flight school and obtained his pilot’s license, joking that he could fly a plane before he knew how to drive a car. He had a brief career in the Royal Air Force, after which he moved to Germany to teach, where he met and married his first wife Dorothée. They remained in Germany for 13 years during which time both of their daughters were born. From there, Nick and his family moved to Canada, where they settled in Cambridge, Ontario and he set up a successful business.

After the death of Dorothée, Nick and Andréa were married in 1999 and remained happily together for the next 24 years.
