Event Review – “The Fight Against Modern Slavery”

More than 80 guests joined the Marlburian Monday on 8th March to hear Julia de Boinville (TU 2006-08) talk about ‘The Fight Against Modern Slavery’.

Julia, the co-founder, along with HRH Princess Eugenie, of The Anti-Slavery Collective (TASC), gave a superb and informative presentation explaining how the Collective is endeavouring to raise awareness, convene changemakers, and highlight the amazing work of the movement against modern slavery. Julia took us through how she first heard about the issue of modern slavery, the founding of TASC and their aim to become one of the largest global platforms for information and collaboration in the anti-slavery movement.

There were many questions from OMs including how can schools help, how an app for identifying cases is helping, whether legislation should be in place to make companies responsible for identifying potential cases in their supplier contracts and many others.
