OM Women’s Network Event – ‘Life in Politics and politics in life’
We warmly invite you to attend the virtual OM Women’s Network Event on Tuesday 26th January at 8pm on Zoom.
The event will be an informal discussion between MP Harriett Baldwin (LI 1975-77) and campaigner Charlotte Carew Pole (PR 1992-94) on their lives in politics, the role of women in politics and the urgent need for more female politicians now and in the future. Following the talk there will be a Q&A where guests can pose their questions and when the meeting ends there will be an opportunity to stay on line and network should you wish to. The evening will be chaired by Susannah Tresilian (NC 1992-97) and will run for approximately one hour.
Harriett was first elected as the Member of Parliament for West Worcestershire in May 2010. Following a Ministerial career in the Whips Office, HM Treasury, Defence and the Foreign Office, Harriett is currently chair of the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union, co-chair of the International Parliamentary Network for Education and is on the Treasury Select Committee. Alongside Stella Creasy (Lab) and Charlotte Lucas (Green), she is a champion for the 50:50 campaign, aiming to bring about an inclusive gender-balanced parliament across all the parties. Charlotte runs Women2Win, an organisation with the aim of increasing the number of female Conservative MPs. She also founded and runs Daughters’ Rights, the campaign to end male primogeniture, which would have the effect of improving female representation in our legislature, specifically in the House of Lords. Susannah, formerly a producer of BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, now runs Ariadne – an international network for women who make social and political theatre to inspire change.
To join us for this talk, you will need to make sure you have signed up to Zoom and then, on the night, follow the link in the email we sent you. If you have not received the link, please email us here to request it.
