Marlburian Mondays – Jonny Oates (PR 1982-87) and Tom Newton Dunn (C2 1986-91) in Conversation

We are pleased to announce that Marlburian Mondays are back for 2021! The new series will begin on Monday 11th January at 8pm.

Jonny Oates (PR 1982-87), currently the Liberal Democrat Lords Spokesperson for Energy and Climate Change and author of the recently published memoir, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden will be in conversation with Tom Newton Dunn (C2 1986-91) Presenter and Chief Political Commentator for Times Radio.

Lord Oates was Chief of Staff to the then Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, during the coalition government. Tom Newton Dunn was the Political Editor for The Sun newspaper for over 10 years before joining Times Radio.

Jonny and Tom will discuss Jonny’s book and his career in politics including his decision, as a fifteen year old schoolboy, to run away to Ethiopia in 1985 and his subsequent experiences working in Africa as a teacher in rural Zimbabwe and as an advisor in the first democratic Parliament in South Africa. The talk will be followed by a Q&A.
