Welcome to Simon Lerwill, Foundation Director

Welcome to Simon Lerwill, Foundation Director who who will join the team in January.

Simon started his career in development as a student telephone fundraising caller at Sherborne. He continued working in educational fundraising after graduating from the University of Birmingham, eventually becoming Development Director at both King Edward’s School and King Edward VI High School for Girls in Birmingham. Here he set up the alumni and development departments and led one of the most successful school bursary fundraising campaigns in the UK. It was this campaign which ignited his passion for social mobility in education.

In his last role he was the Director of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Birmingham where he recently launched the largest ever fundraising and volunteering campaign in the Midlands.

Simon recently moved to the nearby village of Manton with his wife, two young sons and cocker spaniel. He is already enjoying walking in the surrounding countryside with his family and dog. Simon has fond memories of Marlborough College having attended the annual summer school a number of times in the 1990s. He even recalls swimming in the old outdoor swimming pool! He also boarded at a prep school locally in Wiltshire.

Simon is very much looking forward to meeting with Old Marlburians, keeping them in touch with the College and working with the Master to fulfil her vision to increase access for talented pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.
