Richard Shirley Smith Exhibition

Mount House Gallery, Friday 13th September 6.30 to 8.30pm

“A Retrospective of Paintings, Drawings and Engravings by Richard Shirley Smith” will be our first exhibition in the new school year. It promises to be a not to be missed show.

Richard Shirley Smith (CR 1966-70) was Head of Art at the College between 1966 and 1970. Works by this artist can be found in the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Ashmolean Museum and in galleries and private collections right around the world. This artists work is unmistakable in terms of quasi-surreal subject matter, impeccable style and dreamy feeling. Richard Shirley Smith’s work stays in the mind long after viewing.

Richard was commissioned by the College to paint the portrait of former Master, Jonathan Leigh, in 2017.
