David Watts (PR 1942-46)
WE were delighted to welcome back to Marlborough David Watts (PR 1942-46) on the occasion of his 90th Birthday. A short tour of Court, Chapel, the Memorial Hall and Preshute bought many memories flooding back of his time here during the War Years, including sharing the College with the City of London School, walking down from Preshute, JTC parade and the American Soldiers based on the Common being a good source of chewing gum and illicit cigarettes. An enduring memory was keeping the boilers at Preshute stoked – due to a shortage of staff during the war a team of boys was tasked to do this.
